More About Musica
The City of Seattle Mayor’s
Awards For Excellence In Hip Hop and the MUSICA Festival
celebrates music in Seattle by bringing together many genres
of music- Hip Hop, R&B, Electronica, Jazz, Blues, Reggae,
Latin, Gospel and Spoken Word-in an effort to unite people
and create awareness to issues impacting our communities.
The City of Seattle Mayor’s Awards
& MUSICA Festival grew from a vision to promote positive
music community, private business and City Government relationships.
The City of Seattle Mayor’s Awards For Excellence
In Hip Hop & MUSICA Festival acts in part as a vehicle
to increase visibility and public awareness of Seattle’s
music community. It creates the opportunity for collaboration
between civic organizations, businesses, and residents to
build relationships, develop a sense of unity within the
music community, support community non-profit organizations
as well as local artists and performers while providing
top notch national entertainment and keynote speakers to
our communities.
Call to Conscience
The 2006 Mayor’s Awards For Excellence
In Hip Hop and MUSICA Festival’s Call to Conscience
will emphasize the importance of early education. Hip Hop
has been a medium for voices of social change as well as
a mirror that reflects, good or bad, the perceptions of
the Hip Hop generation. Music Industry professionals can
engage business and Government to learn more about issues
that impact their lives. Business, government and advertisers
of all kinds will have the opportunity to connect with one
of the largest segments of our population: “The Hip
Hop Generation.” Hip Hop has changed music, clothing,
language and marketing. The projected attendance for this
year’s Festival is 5,000 to 10,000 attendees over
the free three-day event, ranging in ages 16-50 and representing
a broad demographic range.
Panels & Seminars
The MUSICA Entertainment Festival and Seminars
are designed to create a forum for unsigned/signed artists
to interact with record industry professionals, create exposure
for Northwest performing artists, provide musical “Hip
Hop” and other genres of musical entertainment for
Northwest tourists, families and music enthusiasts. Last
but definitely not least, this year’s event focuses
on empowering the Hip Hop generation about the importance
and impact of education through safe, healthy, culturally
competent, high quality Early Learning and parental involvement.
This being an election year, we’ll also have important
messages about voting both collectively and individually.
