Be A Super Hero, Save The Vote
Last Chance to Register
Youth Voter Registration Drive

What: Seattle City Hall hosts a non-partisan pop culture youth voter registration drive
Saturday October 4th, 2008. This FREE event encourages youth to become informed, knowledgeable registered voters.

MUSICA Entertainment, the event producer, encourages voter registration among young people 18-25 during this quality community-based non-partisan outreach campaign.  This event includes advocates speaking from ALL sides of the issues.  All candidates are also invited to help create an open forum for dialogue to assist voters with making informed decisions.  Film, television and sports celebrities will be on hand to speak about the importance of youth engagement and being an educated voter.  Performers include Northwest based indie rock bands, hip hop groups, DJ’s and other eclectic music stylists.

The "Youth Voter Registration Drive" enlists the support of Councilmember Bruce Harrell, Vice Chair of the Education committee.  "Seattleites are aware of the hurdles that prevent youth from engaging in the election process, and we want to do our part to help," said Bruce Harrell. "We want to encourage young people to register to vote.  I don't want them to be excluded from the political process, because they matter."

King County Elections will be on-hand to register new voters, provide information on the upcoming transition to countywide voting by mail and answer questions about the elections process and voting in King County.  King County Elections will also bring the accessible voting unit which was introduced at every polling place in 2006.  Visitors will be able to familiarize themselves with the machine and cast a test ballot.

This family friendly non-partisan event also includes a “kid’s zone” where youth of all ages will be able to exercise their future voting rights with a unique kids ballot, and write their dreams for the future on a 10 foot postcard which will be displayed and made available to all local and national candidates.  Kids will also receive FREE voting related coloring books.
