A Historical Moment in the Washington State History Museum!
Former Washington State legislators Dawn Mason and this years "Elder of Distinction" Peggy Maxie were joined by current Washington State Senator Rosa Franklin. These three women represent the only Washington State African American female legislators ever. They are together for the first time!

Master of Ceremonies Tony B and Seattle Seahawks "franchise" player Marcus Trufant enjoy speaking with the audience following the keynote addresses.
Free health screening and testing were a gift to the community.
Visitors were able to participate in a wide variety of screenings from blood pressure, hearing and sight, diabetes, and sickle cell to HIV/AIDS.

The Matsiko Choir, Drum, and Dance ensemble from Uganda were exhilarating. The crowd was not able to stand still as they watched Matsiko's energetic and uplifting performance.

Northwest Tap Connection was phenomenal. They brought their own unique style to the stage and wowed the crowd with their performance of tap and African dance.

The health disparities panel
included state leaders addressing health inequities and injustices from left to right Dr. Ben Danielson, Medical Director of Odessa Brown Children's Clinic, Dr. Maxine Hayes, Washington State Health Officer,King County Executive Ron Sims, and facilitator Benita Horn.

E. Faye Williams,
National Chair of the National Black Women's Congress, delivers a powerful keynote address. From the moment she began speaking, she commanded the attention of the audience, and held it to the end.

Otis Clark, 105 years old, holds a copy of his newly released book His Story, History and His Secrets.
